Endovenous laser treatment – The Latest In The Treatment Of Varicose Veins

I work as a vein specialist and I often get questions on different techniques that re used to remove varicose veins. In this article, I would write about the process of Endovenous laser treatment (EVLT). The EVLT procedure could be performed in an office or clinic that requires no incisions or hospitalization. What we do is administer a local anesthesia and insert a fiber through a small needle hole that is made in the skin. The hole is made into the vein that goes along the inner thigh. As the laser is slowly heated, the varicose vein collapses around it. Soon the collapsed vein shrinks and disappears. This technique is widely used to treat large varicose veins that are present in the thigh area and the time taken for the treatment is less that 30 minutes. Patients after undergoing the treatment can return to their normal activities after the procedure.
The energy source available from the laser irritates the walls of the veins and causes to shrink and disappear slowly, The vein are not able to carry the blood through them. You need not be alarmed as these veins are superficial and are not important to transfer blood to the heart.
